Welcome to my blog. I’m planning on using this site to post updates to our challenge to climb all the welsh peaks (with my good friends Ciran Walsh and Alex “Swiss” Sapple) over 3000 feet in Snowdonia. We will be attempting to complete this challenge in 24 hours (or less). There are (around) 16 peaks and they are:

  • Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) (1085m)
  • Crib y Ddysgl (1065 m)
  • Elidir Fawr (923 m)
  • Y Garn (947m)
  • Glyder Fawr (1000 m)
  • Castell y Gwynt (972 m)
  • Glyder Fach (994 m)
  • Tryfan (915 m)
  • Pen yr Ole Wen (978 m)
  • Carnedd Dafydd (1044 m)
  • Yr Elen (962 m)
  • Carnedd Llewelyn (1064 m)
  • Foel Grach (976 m)
  • Garnedd Uchaf (Carnedd Gwenllian) (926 m)
  • Foel-fras (942 m)
  • Crib Goch (850 m)
This is a serious challenge, I’ve been climbing in and around Snowdonia since I was around 12 years old and this is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever attempted. We will be doing this for a very worth charity, Reubens Retreat and we will be collecting for the charity during the build up and the walk (details to follow).

The walk will involve climbing 3 mountain ranges, is roughly 22miles long (as the crow flies) and will involve around 3000m (9000 feet) of ascent. It also takes in two Grade I scrambles, one of which (Crib Goch) involves a knife edge scramble with 1000m drops on either side:

Carneddau range and starting point

We’ll be starting by climbing Foel Fras in the evening before the challenge and wild camping on the summit to get an early start (probably around 3am), we’ll then proceed along the Carneddau range in the dark until dawn.

Glyder range

After unloading our camping gear into one of our support cars we’ll make an ascent of the second mountain range, the Glyders. This includes the Grade I scramble Tryfan.

Snowdon range

After we descend the Glyder range we hit our final big acent, the Snowdon range. We now proceed up Snowdon (the hard way!) via the very serious Crib Goch ridge.

All in all we will touch upon all of the highest peaks in Wales. To complete this in 24 hours is a real challenge and unlike other challenges (such as the 3 peaks) there is no driving involved. We will be undertaking this all under our own steam from start to finish.

Below is a summary of the route that we are planning on taking (source) (We’re currently planning on doing this route in reverse, to end up on Snowdon)Untitled
